Antje Vowinckel is a Berlin based composer, adio artist and musician. Her works can be heard on radio stations such as Deutschlandfunk, SWR, WDR, HR, BR; at festivals such as Ruhtrienale, Eclat-Festival Stuttgart or at concert venues uch as ZKM Karlsruhe, Issue-Project Room New York, Sophiensäle Berlin.
For her compositions with O-Ton she developed the Methodes of Automatic Speaking and Dialect-Karaoke . Furthermore, she creates installations and performances in public spaces, which are aimed at a random and wider audience. The main focus of her work is in Germany, but her pieces are also presented internationally, e.g. her piece “Call me Yesterday” was broadcast and presented in 17 countries.
Broadcasts, performances and competition participations in: France, Switzerland,Austria, Italy, Croatia, Spain, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Czech Republic, Poland, Bulgaria, Portugal, USA, Canada, Australia. In addition, she occasionally works as a juror (Berlin Senate, HBK Braunschweig, inm-Berlin), curator, essayist and lecturer, among others at UDK Berlin, HFG Karlsruhe. She has received numerous international awards for her work, including the Prix Europa and the Karl Sczuka Prize (see below).
Studies: literature with minor subjects music (flute/piano) and sociology. Subsequently doctorate (Collages in radio play. The development of a radiophonic art) and radio traineeship at SWR Baden-Baden. 3 years as assistant director and one year as dramaturge. Further training at the Klangkunstbühne of the UDK-Berlin with Christina Kubisch, Ruedi Häusermann and George Aperghis.
