Opdoppling
Berlin-Brandenburg recycling-composition, 43‘30‘‘
(2023)
Public spaces are increasingly populated by pop music. It sounds from boom boxes, smartphones, headphones and cars. We almost always only hear the sonic remnants of something that was composed, sung and mixed somewhere else in the world. Song fragments without beginning or end, sometimes just the bass, sometimes just the treble, compressed, flattened, squashed. Punched out, danced out. Do all these passing sounds really evaporate immediately or does something remain, floating inside us like plastic in the sea?
